Stockton through and through, Willard Harrell completed all his schooling in Stockton before starring on the gridiron at Pacific from 1972 to 1974.Â
At Pacific, Harrell set a career rushing mark of 3,324 yards and scored 224 points while recording 33 touchdowns.Â
In 1973, Harrell led the nation in all-purpose running and ranked third in scoring and fourth in rushing yards. He was named honorable mention honors on the AP All-American team and was a second team selection his senior year in 1974.Â
Harrell was drafted in the third round by the Green Bay Packers in 1975, enjoying a 10-year professional career before retiring in 1985 with the St. Louis Cardinals.Â
Continually active in the NFL Players Alumni Association Harrell's No. 39 is one of three football jersey numbers to be retired by UOP.Â
