Roy had an honored football and track career at Pacific from 1959-1963, starting his career off with being named Most Outstanding Frosh Football Player in 1959.
In 1961, Williams designed a new type of football pad that is still used today. Instead of using the typical "bull-sled" design, Williams created the T-shaped pads we see today. This was the first change in the design since 1911. He earned the Quarterback Club's "Most Consistent Football Player" award and was named the Most Outstanding Senior Football Player.
Williams was chosen to play in the first annual All-American Bowl held in Buffalo, New York in 1963, as well as the 30th annual college All-Star game held at Soldier Field in Chicago, where his team took down Vince Lombardi's 11-2-1 Green Bay Packers.
Williams graduated from Pacific in 1963 with a degree in Speech Pathology before being drafted by the Detroit Lions and San Diego Chargers.
Williams was one of three founders of the Pacific Athletic Association and has been president of the Stockton Quarterback Club and a UOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.
