Pacific's first Field Hockey team to win the NorPac Conference and advance to the NCAA Championships, the 1989 enjoyed a tremendous amount of on-field success.

They put together a 9-6-1 record, including going 4-2 in the NorPac Conference. They started the season by going 3-3 in their first 6 games, but then they finished very strong by compiling a 6-2-1 record over the final 9 games. During the season, the Field Hockey team got the best of their California rivals, by going 3-0-1 against Stanford, 2-1 against the California and 3-1 against Chico State.

Freshman goalkeeper Angela Teran recorded 111 saves while facing 288 shots to go along with three shutouts. Junior defender and Pacific Hall-of-Famer Wendy Crain had eleven saves and one assist, while junior forward Nita Bruner led the team with eight goals and freshman forward Phyllis Hauser tallied five goals.

Head Coach Carla Konet was named as the Conference Coach of the Year while Nita Bruner, Tina Royce and Wendy Crain were recognized on the College Field Hockey Coaches Association All-West Region Team and also received All-NorPac Conference honors. Crain was named the NorPac Conference Player of the Year and was also selected as an Honorable Mention All American.
