John Cechini played four years under famed head coach Amos Alonzo Stagg.

As a lineman, Cechini was named an all-conference honoree from 1934-36, won the Red Busher Award for best lineman in 1935 and was selected to the All-Coast football team in 1936.

Cechini played on both sides of the ball at tackle and center, and was lauded by Stagg as being "an awfully good football player."

After Pacific, Cechini went on to serve as an assistant coach at Louisville while obtaining his law degree. A 1981 Amos Alonzo Staff Award of Honor recipient, Cechini is one of 24 players selected to the All-Time COP (College of the Pacific) Football Team of the 1950s.
