University of the Pacific's 
Intercollegiate Athletics Mission Statement

    The mission of the University of the Pacific Intercollegiate Athletics Program is to facilitate the personal development and higher education of talented students, both men and women, through their active participation in a highly competitive, broad-based program at the NCAA Division I level.  Intercollegiate Athletics is dedicated to providing its student-athletes with opportunities to fully experience the valuable lessons provided by athletics for self-discipline, competition, leadership and teamwork.  The Athletics program, in its entirety, is committed to and will strive to be a program reflecting a model of excellence.  

Department Philosophy

Pacific Intercollegiate Athletics shall direct its activities to encourage positive attitudes in student-athletes and motivate them to be the "best and brightest" in athletics achievement, academic development and moral character. the University of the Pacific considers intercollegiate athletics an integral part of the educational and developmental process of the complete student-athlete. Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing opportunities for its student-athletes to strive for excellence both academically and athletically. Through participation in intercollegiate athletics each athlete should:
 

  • Develop a strong sense of pride, sportsmanship and personal integrity
  • Experience the positive effect of team work, appreciation of diversity and strong sense of loyalty
  • Recognize the benefits of hard work, patience and perseverance in both winning and losing
  • Carry forth into the community the values gained from competitive experience and the academic opportunity provided to them by the University


University of the Pacific Intercollegiate Athletics believes that a strong athletics program generates 
enthusiasm and loyalty among the student body, stimulates strong interest and support from the alumni and increases public awareness of Pacific's athletic and academic achievements.
