The third-winningest coach in Pacific football history, Erwin "Swede" Righter led Pacific for 12 years from 1921 to 1932, amassing a .614 winning percentage with a record of 54-34-4 while simultaneously coaching the Tigers on the basketball court.
With 12 years at the helm, Righter was the second-longest tenured coach in Pacific football history behind the great Amos Alonzo Stagg, who patroled Pacific's sidelines for 14 years.Â
Righter's 1925 squad finished 5-2 in the inaugural season of the Far Western Conference, including an unbeaten 4-0 mark at home in his fifth season with Pacific.
Righter starred for USA Rugby prior to Pacific, winning a gold medal in the 1920 Olympics as a wing in the medal-clinching win over France.
