The 1983 season saw the Pacific Softball program reach the NCAA Tournament for the second time in history and second of four consecutive trips with a 42-17-1 overall record under head coach Bucky Reynolds, including a 9-3 mark in the NorPac Conference.

Led by All-American Jennae Lambdin, the 1983 Tigers started the season 6-0 and did not lose a home game until April 5 against Fresno State.

Pacific met up with the Bulldogs for a rematch in the NCAA Tournament, breezing through the Fresno Regional with just one run yielded in three games. UOP advanced to its only Women's College World Series in program history, picking up the 1-0 win over Missouri in a 12-inning thriller in Omaha.
