Kathleen (Lagorio) Janssen earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Pacific's Benerd School of Education in 1968. She served on the Board of Regents for Pacific from 1994-96 and 2011-19, and was Chair of the Finance Committee of the Board.
Both Kathy and Dean served on the Pacific Athletic Foundation Board of Directors and were Athletic Campaign Committee members. The couple provided the lead gift for the Janssen-Lagorio Gymnasium, the practice facility for Pacific volleyball and basketball as well as the university's primary facility for intramural and recreation sports.
After graduating from Pacific, Kathy earned her Master's degree from the University of San Francisco in 1978. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and spent 17 years as an educator in the Stockton Unified School District. During that time, she served as President of the Stockton Teachers Association.
Kathy was the daughter of the founder of George B. Lagorio Farms, which began operations in Stockton in 1945, and she joined the family business after completion of her teaching career. She and her family owned and operated Lagorio Companies and Lagorio Enterprises, the parent company of Ace Tomato, Ace Apple, Delta Pre Pack, Lagorio Farming Company, Lagorio Communications and Lagorio Leasing, to name a few of their businesses.
Dean first became a PAF member in the 1980's because George B. Lagorio Farms and Ace Tomato were members. He was a coach and athletic director at Franklin High School for 23 years before going into agri-business as Vice President of Lagorio Companies. Dean served on the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, San Joaquin Board of Education Foundation, Pacific Orange & Black Ball Committee, and Pacific Athletics Hall of Fame Committee.
