Chris Kjeldsen was an football star, a coach and a benefactor, among others, for the University of the Pacific. 

The namesake for the Chris Kjeldsen Pool at the Pacific Aquatics Center and a 1985 recipient of the Amos Alonzo Stagg Award of Honor, Kjeldsen received honorable mention honors on the Collier's, Liberty and AP All-American teams. The AP also tabbed him as a first string college All-American.

After graduation, Kjeldsen stayed on the Stockton campus as a faculty member and a coach for one of the most lauded collegiate swim programs of the time. 

Kjeldsen also coached the Tigers on the basketball floor for 10 years, leading the men's program to 125 wins and the 1946-47 California Collegiate Athletic Conference title from 1942 to 1952.
