Our Mission
Utilize a holistic approach to create an equitable training environment that fosters competition, self-improvement, and builds confidence to bring to the field of play.
Our Philosophy
Pacific Athlete Performance's principal objectives are physical & mental performance enhancement and injury mitigation.
Our holistic performance model takes a comprehensive approach that is grounded in the demands of sport. We use movement as the tool to assess performance levels and risk of injury during both sport participation and daily training. The year-round periodic training model covers all facets of athlete performance specific to the preparatory and competitive phases. Protocols addressing the principal objectives are created on the basis of individual sport demands and each student-athlete’s capability.
This model serves as the foundation for increasing the skills and capacities needed to achieve optimal performance levels.
Sports Science
Pacific Athletics is dedicated to utilizing the most current technology to ensure athlete success. We use several pieces of equipment that help track key metrics that give us insight into how to optimize training, and to assess how an athlete functions and performs.
VALD ForceDecks: force plates that can measure strength, power, rate of force development, and asymmetries from jump testing.
VALD NordBord: used to measure hamstring strength, torque, and asymmetries.
VALD DynaMo: handheld dynamometer that can measure isometric strength, range of motion, and has several attachments including one to measure grip strength (used to assess readiness).
VALD SmartSpeed: timing gate system that can be used both indoors and outdoors to precisely measure sprint and agility drill times.
We also collaborate with several of our teams that use wearable GPS units that track total distance, top speed, accelerations, decelerations, and overall player load during practices and games. This allows the coaching staff to make informed decisions about each individual athlete regarding practice/game minutes to mitigate risk of injury and optimize how an athlete feels for competition.

Nutrition
Pacific Athlete Performance follows a food-first approach to nutrition. Athletes are provided information on macronutrient portion sizes based on the demands of their sport, type of practice, and competition season. Supplements are used in addition to a well-rounded diet and are a great tool to enhance deficiencies.
Athletes interested in dietary supplements need to be aware that the risk of contamination and poor manufacturing practices increase the chance of inadvertently consuming banned substances, putting eligibility at risk.
In accordance with NCAA Division I rules and regulations, Pacific does not provide supplements that are impermissible per NCAA Bylaw 16.5.2 (g) or that contain substances from the NCAA Banned Drug List. Athletes should be informed that eating real food, training responsibly and getting enough rest leads to success without the potential consequences of taking dietary supplements.
Athletes are responsible for what they put into their body and must consult with Athletics Department Staff prior to consuming any supplement.
