Addie Hauschild, a 1998 Pacific graduate, was a consistent contributor to the Tigers volleyball success throughout her four seasons. Before she even stepped on to campus, Hauschild had a lot of expectations as a U.S. Junior Olympian and Volleyball Magazine Top 25 recruit in her senior year of high school. As a freshman, she made an immediate impact, ranking in the team's top four in kills, digs and blocks for the season. For her efforts, she earned Volleyball Magazine Freshman All-America and Big West Conference Freshman of the Year honors. She was also selected to the All-Northwest Region and All-Big West Conference Second Teams.
After returning from off-season back surgery, Hauschild led the team in block assists and total blocks while tying for the lead in digs her sophomore season. In her first game back from surgery, she recorded 10 blocks against California on her way to earning All-Big West Conference Second Team honors.
In her junior year, she proved to be one of the nation's most dominating players during the second half of the season. Over her last five matches, she swatted 76 kills, hit .412 and had 33 blocks. Her .468 hitting percentage in the Big West Tournament was the third best in the competition's history at the time. She was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-District VII First Team and All-Big West Conference First Team. Addie stepped up in big game situations, serving 23 of the Tigers' 52 points in the NCAA Second Round Match against Arizona and collecting 19 kills against BYU later in the tournament. Her postseason dominance earned her NCAA All-Mountain Region squad.
As a senior, Addie led the Tigers to their 20th consecutive 20-win season (23-9) and its 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Her all-around leadership ability was proven, as she was first on the team in hitting percentage, aces, digs, solo blocks and total blocks. She posted a career-high 13 blocks in her match against Nebraska, which still ranks seventh in single match records. In her two matches, Addie tallied 37 kills, 35 digs, and 14 blocks, earning her Most Valuable Player honors at the prestigious tournament. For the season, she was named to her second consecutive All-Big West First Team.
Addie finished her Tiger volleyball career with 955 kills, a .304 hitting average, 116 aces, 1,003 digs, and 505 total blocks. In the career record books, she currently sits ninth in hitting percentage, fourth in block assists (435) and sixth in total blocks and blocks per game (1.2). After graduating from Pacific with her bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Addie joined the US National Team, played professionally with the Minnesota Chill and was the USPVL Libero of the Year in 2001.Â
