A talented multi-sport athlete, Wayne Hardin earned 11 varsity letters in basketball, football, baseball, and track at Pacific.
He was a guard for one of the best basketball teams in school history, leading the Tigers to a 16-7 record in 1944-45 and a 16-8 mark in 1946-47 under Hall of Fame head coach Chris Kjeldsen.
Hardin was also a distinguished member of Pacific's gridiron squad at halfback, receiving the Congressman Johnson Award for special teams play in 1947. Over the final two years of his collegiate career, Pacific posted an impressive record of 17-2-2 with Hardin in the backfield.
Upon completing his collegiate playing career, Hardin became an assistant football coach at Pacific for the 1952 season under head coach Ernie Jorge, leading Pacific to a 7-3-1 record
He then went on to coach football at the Naval Academy for 10 years and at Temple University for 13 years, becoming the winningest football coach in the history of each institution. Hardin led Temple to a win in the 1979 Garden State Bowl.
