A product of nearby Lincoln High School and Delta College, Bob Heinz lettered in football and track at Pacific from 1966 to 1969.

Heinz was voted most valuable lineman and captain of Pacific's track team as a senior and participated in the Coaches' All-American Game in Atlanta in 1969. He also played in the College All-Star game in Chicago.

Heinz was drafted in the second round by the Miami Dolphins in 1970, winning two Super Bowls under Don Shula in 1972 and 1973 as a starting defensive tackle. 

Bob started every game as a member of the Dolphins' unbeated 17-0 season in 1972, one of his nine years with the organization.
