Bob Denton played four years at Pacific as a defensive lineman on the Tigers' football team from 1956-59 under Jack "Moose" Myers following a stint in the Marine Corps.Â
A local product, Denton graduated from Stockton High School before his service and came full circle after his professional playing days with a 28-year teaching job at Stagg High School.Â
After Pacific (then known at College of the Pacific), Denton was drafted sixth by the Cleveland Browns before spending four years with the Minnesota Vikings, mainly as an offensive guard.
Pacific's team captain and most inspirational player in 1959, Denton returned to Pacific in 1965 as an assistant coach and was a personnel scout for the Vikings from 1966-68.
