During his four-year swimming career at Pacific, Phil Strick set a school record and tied a national record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.7 seconds.
Strick also set a Pacific record at the 1966 NCAA College Nationals, clocking in at 53.0 in the 100 Fly. He earned All-American honors as a co-captain his senior year.
He earned over 13 All-American awards throughout his Pacific career, going undefeated in dual-meet 50 Free competition.
After graduating from Pacific in 1968 with a degree in Business Administration and Economics, Strick qualified for the Olympic swimming trials for a trip to Mexico City.
In 1969 he married Carolyn Troester Strick (also a 1968 UOP graduate) and returned to Pacific to receive his standard secondary lifetime teaching credential from the UOP School of Education.
