Ernie Jorge coached Pacific's football program from 1947 to 1950 as a line coach under Larry Siemering before taking the head job for two years in 1951 and 1952.

As a line coach, Jorge was part of Pacific's only ranked teams in its 77-year history, including the magical 11-0 team in 1949. The Tigers went to two bowl games with Jorge in charge of the line, picking up a 26-14 win over Wichita State in the 1948 Raisin Bowl on New Year's Day.

Jorge guided the Tigers to a 13-8-1 record in his two years at the helm, including a 7-3-1 mark in 1952 with the help of All-American Ken Buck, capped off by a 26-7 win over Southern Mississippi in the Sun Bowl.

Jorge played his college football at Saint Mary's College in the Bay Area and served as team captain in 1937. After Pacific, he accepted the position as line coach for the Chicago Cardinals and later at Navy from 1955 to 1958. He also served as college scout for the Houston Oilers.
