Jim Corson was a standout track and field athlete at Pacific in the 1920s, winning the NCAA discus throw in 1927. 

Corson won the bronze medal in the discus throw at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam at age 22. 

He returned to Pacific as a track and football coach, but eventually became dean of the college as part of his longtime career in academics.
