Keith Swagerty is regarded as one of the best players in Pacific men's basketball history.
A 1,000-point scorer and a fourth-round pick of the New York Knicks, Swagerty was the first Tiger to have his number retired in the Alex G. Spanos Center. He is the school's all-time leading rebounder with 1,505 over his three-year career and ranks in the top five in career points, rebounding average, scoring average, field goals made and free throws made.
Swagerty owns three of the program's top five single-season rebounding totals and averages and holds the program record with 39 boards against UC Santa Barbara on March 5, 1965.
Swagerty played for the Tigers under famed head coach Dick Edwards and was named an AP All-American honorable mention in the 1966-67 season after leading Pacific to its second consecutive West Coast Athletic Conference championship. He also earned Academic All-American and Northern California Player of the Year honors that year.
Not surprisingly, Swagerty was Pacific's leading scorer and rebounder for three consecutive seasons and accounted for 20 or more rebounds on 33 occasions throughout his career, including a 26-point, 23-rebound effort in the 1966 NCAA West Regionals against Houston.
