Pete McCain arrived at the College of the Pacific on an athletic scholarship in 1932, making an immediate impact on both Pacific's football and basketball teams.Â
McCain played on Amos Alonzo Stagg's first COP team in 1933 as a first-string end. On the hardwood, McCain was one of the Far Western Conference's top 10 scorers and led Pacific to a FWC title in 1932.Â
After graduation in 1934, McCain was immediately hired as a physical education teacher, football coach and swimming coach at Stockton High School.Â
