One of six former Tigers to appear in a Super Bowl, Wayne Hawkins played football for Pacific from 1956 to 1959 as an offensive guard under head coach Jack "Moose" Myers.

The Tigers won 22 games with Hawkins on the line of scrimmage, racking up 528 total yards against Colorado State in 1956, a mark that ranks in the top 25 in Pacific single-game history.

Hawkins joined the Oakland Raiders through the allocation draft prior to the start of the first AFL season in 1960. He went on to play 10 years with the Silver and Black, winning an AFL title in 1967 and being a five-time AFL all-star as a future member of the All-Time Raider team.
