The 1966-67 Tigers dominated the hardwood under Northern California Coach of the Year Dick Edwards, going 24-4 overall and a perfect 14-0 in the WCAC en route to a league title and a 73-63 win over defending national champion Texas Western in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.Â
Pacific marched all the way to the national title game, falling to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar-led UCLA Bruins.Â
Edwards' Tigers were a relentless offensive threat during the season. Pacific ranked sixth nationally in 1966-67, outscoring its opponents by an average of 81-68. Keith Swagerty was named First Team WCAC, All-American and Northern California Player of the Year after ranking fourth in the country with 18.5 rebounds per game.Â
The '66-67 Tigers still hold the program record with 22 consecutive wins.Â
