Game One
Marissa Young opened up the first with two strikeouts. After Rachel Sellers' single in the first, the Tigers were held hitless for the next three innings, with Starr Vang breaking up that streak in the fifth with a single to right. Pacific would load the bases with one out that inning looking to get on the board but the Hornets forced Cassidy Gustafson out at home and then got Caitlyn Sung to line out to the pitcher to end the threat.
Meanwhile Young continued to roll as she kept the Hornets scoreless through five with three strikeouts and just two hits.
The Hornets tied the game with two outs in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to center off new pitcher Megan Walters. In the top of the eighth Sacramento State got their first lead of the game on a pass ball and held on to take game one 2-1.
Game Two
Pacific got an early lead in the first as Sydney Lahners hit a two-run home run to left field to put Pacific up 2-0, her third of the season.
In the third inning the Hornets narrowed the deficit on a throwing error that plated Rasmussen, making it 2-1 Pacific. Sacramento State then pulled ahead in the fourth on a double to center field by pinch hitter Strong that scored two and made it 3-2.
Pacific took the lead right back the bottom half of the inning as Cassidy Gustafson plated Samantha Owen and Rachel Sellers on a single to center field. Freshman Hailey Reed came into pitch for Pacific in the fifth, striking out Moore to end the top half.
The Hornets led off the seventh with a triple but Gustafson threw her out at home as Sacramento State tried to plate her on a bunt. Pacific was able to hold on in the end and cap off the tournament with a victory.
