STOCKTON, Calif. – Sophomore pitcher
Kaytee Dahlstrom stepped into the circle in the third inning and shut down San Diego, allowing the offense to come through and claim the 4-2-win Friday night at Bill Simoni Field.
From the point Dahlstrom took the ball for the Tigers (17-33, 5-11 WCC), only three total runners reached base for San Diego (17-29, 3-10 WCC) – none of which advanced beyond second base. As such, Dahlstrom was Pacific's pitcher of record, improving to 4-4 with a final line of five innings pitched, one hit, no runs, one walk and four strikeouts. Lately her appearances have boded well for the team as they are 3-1 in games in which she pitches, all three wins have come at Bill Simoni Field.
Up until she entered the game tonight, the Tigers weathered six USD hits giving up only two runs – with both coming in the first inning. However, despite the early deficit, Pacific immediately answered back with two runs of their own. Senior
Allie Capello opened scoring with an RBI triple after the Toreros missed a diving catch attempt – the senior's second triple in as many games. All three of Capello's triples came have come in the last six games and the RBI her team leading 31st.
Just one batter later Capello moved the 60 feet home after freshman
Kelly Whelihan knocked home her first RBI of the night via a sacrifice fly. She later brought home the go-ahead run in similar fashion, scoring redshirt senior
Olivia Silvestre through a sacrifice fly in the fifth. The multi-RBI effort was the second of her career and brings her season total to ten. Finally, senior
Amanda Bricker singled home junior
Zaedi Tagalog to pad the lead and bring the score to its final resting place.
Making her second consecutive start, sophomore
Alyssa Garcia notched two hits for the third multi-hit game of her career and the first of 2026. Her performance was the only multi-hit game for the Tigers and accounted for two of the eight hits.
Elsewhere, Silvestre wore her 16th hit-by-pitch, moving her into a tie for third place on Pacific's single season hit by pitch list.
With a win tomorrow, Pacific can clinch a series win over the Toreros and a fifth consecutive win at home. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
