2018 (Senior):
Made a total of 19 starts and 20 appearances during her senior campaign. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. native led the Tigers with a team-high 55 strikeouts, six complete games, and 79.2 innings pitched helping her earn her second consecutive WCC All-Second Team award. Also held an ERA of 3.60. Hit the four-K or more mark on six occasions including two season-bests, eight strikeouts versus Northern Colorado (Feb. 23) and nine strikeouts against Utah State (March 7). Caught fire at the end of the year winning out four of her last six games including a 4.0 inning, three-strikeout victory on Senior Day against Santa Clara (Apr. 29). Also closed out the season with an 11-0 shutout victory over Saint Mary''s, earning WCC Player of the Week honors. Wraps up her time here at Pacific ranking in the top 15 in program wins (34), total appearances (89), complete games (31), strikeouts (258), and shutouts (8).
2017 (Junior):
Made 23 starts and appeared in 25 total games in the circle, registering over 138 total innings of work. Led the Tigers in ERA with a 2.22, which was the third-lowest in the WCC and a career best. Her 99 strikeouts and ten complete games are both career-highs while her 44 earned runs are a collegiate best. Logged her first victory of the year in the 3-0 win over Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 12), allowing just four hits and no runs while striking out four. Went all eight innings in the 2-1 victory against Seattle (Feb. 24) as she struck out a season-high nine. Was named WCC Pitcher of the Week after throwing 16 total innings with 13 strikeouts with a win and a save and a minuscule 0.43 ERA for her fifth-career Pitcher of the Week plaudit. Threw a career-high nine innings against San Diego (Apr. 8). Threw three-straight complete games from Apr. 29 to May 6, logging 21 innings with 20 strikeouts and no earned. Following the year she was named to the All-WCC Second Team for the first time in her career.
2016 (Sophomore):
Young posted a team-best 3.06 ERA in 22 appearances for Pacific. The sophomore posted four shut-outs and struck out 63 batters in 107.2 innings. She had a perfect 1.000 fielding mark with three put-outs. Young earned her first win of the year against North Florida (Feb 13), throwin six scoreless innings with three strikeouts and just three hits. Against the Sacramento State Hornets (Mar 12), Young pitched seven innings with just earned run, which earned her WCC Pitcher of the Week honores. She pitched a complete game shut-out in the 4-0 win over Sacramento State (Apr 5) with six strikeouts and no walks. Young posted a career-high eleven strikeouts againt BYU (Apr 29).
2015 (Freshman):
Young quickly positoned herself as one of the go-to options on the Tiger pitching staff, going 8-5 with a 4.10 ERA in 11 starts. She finished six complete games, including a shutout against Sacramento State on April 15th and a six-hit, one earned run performance against LMU on April 18th, earning WCC Player of the Week honors for the effort. Later, she added a combined shutout with Walters on April 25 at Santa Clara. Turning it up during the conference season, Young finished the WCC season with a 3-0 record, a 2.04 ERA and 14 strikeouts against just seven walks and seven earned runs in 24 innings pitched. On May 8th against the Gaels, Young tallied a career-high six strikeouts earning her second WCC Player of the Week honors in the process. At the end of the season, Young was named an All-WCC Softball honorable mention selection.
High School:
Young came to the Tigers from Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. From the circle in her senior campaign, Young recorded a 15-3 record with a 1.78 ERA. She was named First Team All-Baseline League and Second Team All-Inland Valley by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin following the season. Marissa also excelled from the circle during her junior campaign in 2013. She posted a 16-3 record with a 1.65 ERA in 2013 as the Grizzlies won the Baseline League Championship. She had 74 strikeouts in 114.2 innings pitched for Los Osos. Young received First Team All-Baseline League honors in 2013 and was named to First Team All-Inland Empire by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin following the season.
