2018 (Sophomore):
Started and played in 46 of the Tigers'' 47 games this season. Tallied a team-high 53 hits in 150 at-bats for a batting clip of .382. Owen also recorded seven home runs, 37 RBI, and a slugging percentage of .600. Had six stretches in which she had a three-game hitting streak or better, including a season-high nine games with a hit (Feb. 16-24). Scored 4-RBI on four seperate occassions as well as went 3-4 with a home run in Pacific''s 7-6 win over Montana (Feb. 9th). Wrapped up the season with a pair of 4-RBI performances versus Saint Mary''s. The sophomore outfielder''s batting average, slugging, RBI, doubles (12), and total bases (90) ranked in the top-five in WCC play, aiding Owen to her first All-WCC First Team selection. Owen also clinched NFCA All-West Region Third Team honors following the year.
2017 (Freshman):
Appeared in all but four games for the Tigers, registering 36 hits in 139 at-bats for a .259 batting average. She scored 19 runs while plating 16 more, and led all freshman with four home runs. Logged her first collegiate hit in her second career game on a single against North Dakota State (Feb. 11), and hit her first collegiate home run against Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 12) on a three-run shot. Knocked her first double and triple in the same game vs UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 18) and scored a pair of runs. Hit a home run in back-to-back games against #23 California (Mar. 1) and in the 6-0 win over Portland State (Mar. 3). Reached base in nine-straight games from Mar. 21 to Apr. 9 and had a season-high six game hit streak during that stretch. Following the season, Owen was named to the All-WCC Honorable Mention team for her stellar first year performance.
High School:
A standout at East Union High School, Owens was named the Stockton Record All-Area Player of the Year in addition to earning VOL MVP and FLO Softball All-American accolades. Her senior year Owen''s helped the Lancers become state champions and posted a .507 batting average. A standout in the classroom, Owens graduated with Cum Laude honors.
Personal:
Samantha is a Health, Exercise and Sport Science major and plans to become a physical therapist at her own practice.
