Game One
Caitlyn Sung led off the game with a double down the left field line, extending her consecutive on base streak to six-straight games. She moved to second following Haylee Moran-Rowen's hit by pitch and both runners moved up a base as Molly Bourne grounded out to the second baseman. Sydney Lahners put the Tigers on the board as she flied out to the right fielder, scoring Sung.
The 'Roos knotted the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the first, but Pacific took the lead right back in the next half inning. With one out Starr Vang walked and with two outs, Taylor Covington worked a walk herself. Sung followed with a single to load the bases, and Moran-Rowen was plunked again which scored a run. Next batter Bourne singled to right, scoring two and making it 4-1. It quickly became 5-1 as Moran-Rowen scored on a wild pitch.
Cassidy Gustafson led off the third with a solo shot to left, her seventh of the year. Rachel Sellers and Vang hit back-to-back singles, and Samantha Owen loaded the bases with a bunt single. Covington plated Sellers on a single to left, and Sung got her third hit of the game with a single to left of her own and the score was now 8-1. After a pitching change, Moran-Rowen singled up the middle for the Tigers' seventh-straight base bit, knocking in a pair. Two batters later, Lahners made it 11-1 as she singled up the middle.
Gustafson, who led off the inning, grounded out to third but plated another run, bringing the score to 12-1. The Tigers would end the inning with seven total runs scored, which are the most they've plated in a single inning this season. UMKC would respond with three runs of their own in the bottom half to make it 12-4, which would be the final score at the end of the fifth inning, giving the Tigers the victory by run rule.
Game Two
Caitlyn Sung led off the game with a base hit, which she's done most of the season. She moved to second after a Haylee Moran-Rowen walk and Molly Bourne followed by reaching on an error which loaded the bases. Sydney Lahners logged two of her three RBIs on the afternoon when she singled to the shortstop, making it 2-0. Cassidy Gustafson made it 3-0 on another infield single, and Pacific would add another pair before ending the frame to go up 5-0 early.
Pacific kept bringing the runs across as Lahners brought in Bourne, and Caitlyn Reynolds plated Lahners, putting the Tigers up 7-0. Next batter Taylor Covington doubled in a pair, and shortly after would score herself on a wild pitch to make it 10-0. Faith Apoloskis logged her first hit as a Tiger as she singled down the left field line, scoring two more and giving Pacific nine in the inning. The Orange and Black ended the inning with a 14-0 lead.
The Big Green tried to narrow their deficit by plating two in the fourth and three in the fifth to avoid the run rule, but the Tiger lead was too much and the game ended in a 14-5 Pacific win.
Pacific caps off tournament action tomorrow when they face UC Riverside at 12:30 PM.
