Tigers Blank Hawai'i, Portland State

STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific picked up a pair of victories Saturday at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center, blanking Hawai'i 6-0 and Portland State 7-0.

"Today was a very productive day in terms of lessons learned," Pacific coach Ryan Redondo said. "Some guys today made a lot of strides in learning about their competitive mode. It was nice to see that commitment in their growth. Nathan Hampton got his first start in the lineup and did a fine job of improving and getting his first dual match wins.

Against Hawaii, in singles action, Pacific won in straight sets on courts 2-6. Miguel Diaz took care of Igor Kolaric on court two 7-5, 6-4. Akram El Sallaly dropped Marcel Chan on court three 6-3, 6-3. On court four, Alex Giannini defeated Fabian Woehrl 6-0, 6-3. Ross Watson took out Ruben Blattner 6-1, 6-2 on court five. Lance Ngo swept Eric Kenneth 6-1, 6-2. Tadiwa Chinamo defeated Felix Albert 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on court one.

No doubles matches were played.

Against Portland State, the Tigers swept doubles play, starting on court two when Watson and El Sallaly defeated Russell Risenhoover and Yousef Abdo 6-2. On court one, Chinamo and Ginnani defeated Nathan Boniel and Tommy Edwards 6-3. On court three, Diaz and Hampton downed Ethan Lopez and Sam Larson 6-4.

In singles action, the Tigers won in straight sets on courts 2-6. Watson defeated Risenhoover 6-1, 6-0 on court four. El Sallaly defeated Lopez on court three 6-0, 6-1. Ngo defeated Abdo 6-4, 6-0 on court five. Hampton took out Larson on court six 6-4, 6-1. Chinamo downed Edwards on court two 6-2, 7-6 (7). Diaz defeated Boniel 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (6).

"Next up we have a quick turnaround to travel down the valley to Fresno State for a Tuesday night match," Redondo said. "It's another great opportunity to push our edge."

The Tigers face the Bulldogs on Tuesday, Feb. 7. First serve is set for 4 p.m. PT.
