Portland, Oregon - The No. 71 Pacific men's tennis team fell 4-1 at Portland in a road West Coast Conference matchup. The Tigers fall to 5-2 in WCC play despite victories in singles and doubles from Sem Verbeek.
Verbeek and Alex Giannini won at first doubles, 6-4 over Michail Pervolarakis & Mathieu Garcia, as the duo remained unbeaten as a doubles pair at 4-0.
But Kent Andreasen & Alex Wallace topped Jose Chamba & Miguel Diaz at second doubles, 6-3, and Felix Fan & Pierre Garcia clinched the point for the Pilots with a win over Daniel Alameh & Bernardo Oliveira, 6-3.
In singles, Verbeek swept Pervolarakis at first singles, 7-5, 6-2 to improve to 16-2 on the season in singles. But Mathieu Garcia topped Chamba at second singles, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Pierre Garcia edged Alameh, 6-4, 6-3, and Wallace clinched the match with a win over Diaz, 6-4, 6-0.
Giannani won his first set against Fan, but went unfinished 6-3, 2-5. Oliveira trailed after a set to Carlos Donat, 6-1, 2-3, unfinished
The Tigers fall to 13-11 overall, while Portland is now 15-7 overall and 6-3 WCC play.
