Biography

2015-16 (Sophomore):
Won seven singles matches and nine doubles matches. Named All-West Coast Conference in Doubles (with Sem Verbeek). Spent much of the season ranked as a doubles pair with Verbeek, peaking at No. 40,  as the tandem went 8-3 on the year (all at first doubles). Posted a 3-2 doubles mark in WCC play (with multiple partners). In singles, won three matches at third singles with a 2-2 mark at fourth singles. Posted three singles matches against ranked teams with wins in Pacific victories against No. 41 New Mexico (Jan. 18), No. 27 UC Santa Barbara, and also added a win in singles against No. 43 Stanford.

2014-15 (Freshman):
Jose Chamba earns Singles Honorable Mention and Doubles Honorable Mention in WCC. Chamba finished his first season with 14 singles wins and 12 doubles wins. He defeated Michail Pervolarakis of No. 74 Portland and Ziad Sultan from No. 65 UC Santa Barbara.

High School:
Attended high school at Colegio Pert in Guayaquil. Jose hold an ATP ranking in singles and doubles His best results came in the Futures in Ecuador where he made the semi-finals in doubles and won twice in the main draw singles. Jose was a Jr. Davis Cup representative for Ecuador as well as an alternate member of the Ecuadorian Davis Cup team. He was a Jr. ITF Tournament champion in doubles in Bolivia and Ecuador. In addition to tennis, Jose also played soccer in high school.

Personal:
Jose Chamba joined the Tigers beginning in the spring 2015 season. Chamba is a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador and is the son of Benito Chamba and Monica Gomez. He is a business administration major.
