#68 Men's Tennis Downs USF, 5-2

San Francisco - The No. 68 Pacific men's tennis team posted a 5-2 win at San Francisco Saturday as the Tigers won four singles matches and swept in doubles at California Tennis Club.

No. 55 Sem Verbeek swept Nils Skajaa, 6-2, 6-1, at first singles, while No. 103 Daniel Alameh fought off Vasco Valverde, 7-5, 6-4 at the second position.

At fourth singles, Alex Giannini prevailed over Thomas Takemoto, 6-4, 6-4, while Bernardo Oliveira won his sixth singles match with Jerod Mah, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

Miguel Diaz was topped by Ryan Marker, 6-4, 6-1, at third singles, while at fifth singles,  Woravin Kumthonkittikul topped Jose Chamba, 7-5 (5), 1-6, 6-4.

In doubles play, the Tigers took the point as Alameh and Giannini took out Marker and Takemoto, 6-2, while Diaz and Oliveira dispatched Jason Lee and Christian Brockstedt, 6-2.

The No. 41 doubles pairing of Verbeek and Chamba didn't complete their match with Skajaa and Valverde, as the Tigers had already clinched the point.

"Congrats to the team for taking care of business today," head coach Ryan Redondo said. "But, to be honest, we as a unit are striving for more then the performance we saw today. And I can sense the team feels that, too.  It's exciting to be in this moment where we can get the team win and be striving for more, while ready to learn and improve.  It's a very growth-oriented team and we are ready to get back at it next week."

Pacific improves to 5-4 on the year, and 2-0 in WCC contests. San Francisco falls to 1-8 overall, 0-1 in WCC action. The Tigers will be back in action next weekend, visiting old Big West foes UC Santa Barbara (Saturday, noon) and Cal Poly (Sunday, noon) on the road.
