STOCKTON, Calif.—After dropping its West Coast Conference opener against Portland, Pacific women's soccer (6-5-1, 0-1 WCC) looks to rebound in its next two road games at Pepperdine (3-3-5, 0-1 WCC) and San Diego (1-9-1, 0-1 WCC). The Tigers play the Waves at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and the Torros at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Pacific is coming off a 4-0 loss against Portland on Saturday. Three Tigers recorded shots with fifth-year senior
Jaida Nyby pacing the offense with three. Freshman goalkeeper
Libby Davy collected three saves between the pipes.
Pacific's scoring offense is ranked 61st in the country. In addition, the Tigers are 61st in total goals (24) and 71st in total points (66).
Nyby leads Pacific in scoring with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. The Eugene, Ore. native is ranked fifth in the WCC in both goals and points. Nyby has scored six of nine games this season, including a multi-goal performance of two goals against UC Santa Barbara on Aug. 27. She is nationally ranked in total goals (39th, 7), total points (54th, 16), goals per game (57th, 0.6) and points per game (70th, 1.3).
Three other Tiger scorers are also notching double figures. Sophomore
Alexis Pashales is second with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Fifth-year senior
Lauren Frohan and sophomore
Anaya Shelton have 10 points on four goals and two assists.
Davy has made all 12 starts while grabbing 42 saves, which is ranked third in the league. The Adelaide, South Australia native clinched her first career shutout against Fresno State.
Pacific looks for its first win against Pepperdine. The Waves hold an undefeated 14-0-0 record over the Tigers in the all-time series.
Pepperdine was picked to finish third in the WCC Preseason Poll. The Waves are led in scoring by Tori Waldeck, a league preseason team honoree who has tallied 11 points on four goals and three assists. She ranks sixth in assists, ninth in points and 10th in goals in the WCC.
A player to look out for is Skylar Enge, who is the Waves' assist leader. She is second in the conference in this category. Nationally, Enge ranks 49th in total assists and 55th in assists per game (0.5).
Both teams defeated UC San Diego and Fresno State during non-conference.
Pacific is 7-1-2 in the series against San Diego and have been unbeaten in the last three contests. The Tigers earned a 3-0 victory over the Toreros at Knoles Field during the 2022 season.
San Diego was picked to finish ninth in the league preseason poll. Lexi Zandonella-Arasa leads the Toreros with two goals on the season. In the net for San Diego is goalkeeper Sophine Kevorkian who is the WCC leader in saves with 65. Nationally, she ranks 17th in total saves and 19th in saves per game on an average of 5.9.
After the road games, the Tigers return to Knoles Field to host No. 18 Santa Clara for Homecoming at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.
