Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Women's Water Polo team hosted the #2 UCLA Bruins at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool Sunday. The Tigers fought a tough battle but fell to the Bruins 17-8.
"The team was able to execute at a very high level throughout the game. We just weren't consistent enough to play with that team yet for four quarters," said Head Coach
James Graham. "There were moments during the game that showed our true potential, and we're excited to get back to practice this week to be able to play each possession like this in the future."
In the first quarter, graduate student
Mariana Duarte started off the scoring for the Tigers. Senior
Brianna Utas got the second goal for the Tigers with an assist from senior
Ana Martinez do Amaral.
Duarte started the second quarter scoring for the Tigers on a powerplay. With an assist from senior
Emma Myall, do Amaral found the back of the net for the Tigers' fourth goal.
In the third quarter, freshman
Hila Futorian scored on a powerplay. Then on another powerplay in the third, Futorian assisted Duarte for another Tiger goal.
Duarte capitalized on a powerplay in the fourth, scoring the Tigers' next goal. With 17 seconds left in the fourth, freshman Szamira Koppany assists senior
Toula Falvey for the final Tigers goal of the game.
Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Clara Vulpisi had four saves throughout the game.
The Tigers host Hawaii at Noon on March 12.
