Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – The Tigers showed out in their first game of the season, defeating a strong UC Davis team 5-2. 

A strong team effort was highlighted by junior Brandon Park, who was a part of both clinching points, winning his doubles matchup with his partner sophomore Ran Amar in an exciting 7-5 fashion as players from both teams watched. Park then won his singles match against Morgan 6-3, 6-4, which was the decisive fourth point to give the Tigers the win. 

The three courts finished in order for the Tigers. After freshman Aleska Mardjonovic and junior Coby McCaig fell 6-1, the Tigers bounced back, with sophomore Peter Alam and Junior Manroop Saini winning their match 6-3 and Park and Amar winning point for the Tigers. 

Needing only three points in singles to secure the first win of the season, the Tigers jumped on the Aggies early, with Mardjonovic and graduate student Liam Puttergill both winning 6-3, 6-4. 

Park and Amar were in adjoining courts, with both leading their opponents. The Tigers led 3-0 and were looking for one more point to win. It became a competition to see who would secure the winning point. Park received the honor, winning 6-3, 6-4 and giving the Tigers the win. Amar won his match as well, 6-1, 7-6. Alam and McCaig both fell to UC Davis. 

The Tigers are back home on Sunday as they will host Sacramento State. Doubles will start at 1:00 p.m.
