Box Score IRVINE, Calif. – The Tigers continued their non-conference schedule with a quick weekend trip to Irvine. The Tigers started strong, winning two of the three doubles matchups. Irvine responded quickly in singles, winning five of the six matchups to take a 5-2 win.

Peter Alam and Manroop started the Tigers off on the right foot, sweeping their doubles matchup 6-0. After #1 Aleska Mardonovic and
Coby McCaig were defeated 6-3, #3
Ran Amar and
Brandon Park finished off their opponents 6-2 to give the Tigers the doubles point.
The Anteaters tied the match up quickly, as #2 Alam was defeated 6-1, 6-1 to tie up the overall score at one apiece. #6 McCaig fell next, 6-3, 6-0 and the Tigers went down 2-1 overall.
#4 Amar got his second singles win of the season, rolling to a 6-4, 6-0 win to tie the match back up for the Tigers. With both teams looking for four points to win, it came down to the final three matchups for two points.

Liam Puttergill fell in the first set 6-3, after a back and forth the second set, he fell 7-5. #1 Mardjonovic dropped his singles game 6-2, 6-3 as UC Irvine got the crucial fourth point. #5 Park was the only Tiger to go to three sets, winning his first set 6-2 before dropping the next two, 6-3, 6-4.
The Tigers are home for the first time in 2022 next week, hosting UC Davis on Wednesday, Feb 23. Doubles will start at 1 PM.
