BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After a quiet week due to postponements, the Pacific baseball team (3-2) heads back on the road to take on the California State Bakersfield Roadrunners (1-2) in a four-game weekend series.
The four-game set will feature all afternoon starts, including a Saturday doubleheader from Hardt Field in Bakersfield.

THINGS TO KNOW:
- The Tigers are coming off a loss in their lone game last week against Sacramento State. Prior to that UOP took two of three from Cal to begin the season.
- Through the first five games of the season, the Tigers are hitting .259 as a team. Junior James Arakawa is leading the team at the outset with a .474 batting average and an on base percentage of .526.
- Senior James McClenaghan has been driving the ball with authority early on this season, with three of his six hits being extra base hits and posting a team-leading .545 slugging percentage.
- On the mound, the Tigers will send senior Hayden Pearce to the mound for the first game against CSU Bakersfield. Pearce allowed two runs in five innings of work against Cal in his season debut.
- Sophomore Hunter Hayes will start the second game of the series after throwing four shutout innings to begin his 2021 season.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS:
- CSU Bakersfield began their season losing two of three on the road against Fresno State.
- Redshirt senior outfielder Nick Grossman has been on fire to begin the 2021 season hitting .625 through three games.
- On the mound for the Roadrunners, junior Roman Angelo was impressive in his 2021 debut allowing one run over five innings in their lone win of the season thus far.
- Coming out of the bullpen, sophomore Jaykob Acosta has been the most reliable and utilized arm for head coach. Acosta has yet to allow a run in three one inning appearances.
