STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program will have a new look for the 2027 season as first-year head coach
Toby DeMello announced the addition of 29 newcomers on Tuesday.
The class consists of 24 transfers across the Div. I, Div. II, Div. III and junior college ranks and five freshmen who will seek to make an immediate impact on the team next season.
"I'm really excited about how our 2027 roster came together, DeMello said. "The incoming group is a mix of not only great players that will be dynamic on the diamond, but quality young men who will have a positive impact on our institution. It is a group that we feel will mesh well with the core group or returners, grow our culture and raise our standards on and off the field."
Matthew Canizares and Matthew Jackson make their way over to Pacific after playing at Stony Brook. While Canizares pitched over 22.1 innings for the Seawolves last year, Jackson played a career-high 45 games as a junior, carrying a .270 batting average across three seasons there.
Kenan Elarton spent last season at Houston Christian and his first three years at Arizona under DeMello's supervision. Last year with the Huskies, Elarton made 12 appearances and struck out 13 batters in 20.2 innings.
Nate Criswell joins the Tigers after pitching for Troy in the Men's College World Series last season. Criswell made six appearances with a 4.50 earned run average in 6.0 innings.
Returning to his hometown state, Tyler Vargas made ten appearances out of the bullpen last season with Wagner, striking out over a batter per game in 13.0 innings in 2026.
Staying in the West Coast Conference, Finn Chapman makes the short drive to Stockton after pitching last season with Saint Mary's. Chapman made ten appearances in his second season as a Gael, sporting a 1-0 record with seven strikeouts in 10 innings of relief work.
Caden Sramek comes to Pacific after a stint with Oklahoma State last season. In high school, Sramek went 4-3 with a pair of saves and a 3.07 ERA in 12 outings, including nine starts as a senior.
Alex Pearson is a left-handed first baseman and outfielder who played 15 games last season at Washington, collecting six hits in 26 at bats.
Nikko Taylor can serve as a utility player across the diamond. The native of El Sobrante, California played with the California Golden Bears last season as a freshman. Taylor stole 129 bases in high school at Berkeley HS.
Transferring over from Wichita State, Nico Rodriguez hit .333 across 21 games with the Shockers as a freshman.
Kevin Parker Jr. is an infielder who made previous stops at Utah Valley and Texas Southern. In 2025 with UVU, Parker appeared in 19 games, hitting .211 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Staying as a Tiger, Yariel Rodriguez slashed .272 with eight doubles, two home runs, 28 RBIs and 25 runs scored in 41 games in 2026 with Towson. The native of Philadelphia, Penn. primarily played infield last season as a junior.
Jared Robles was one of the top pitchers for Cal State LA last season as a sophomore. Robles donned a 3-2 record with a 3.69 earned run average and three saves in 18 relief appearances a season ago.
A pair of George Fox pitchers make their way to Pacific in Andrew Miller and Lucas Plenert, marking the only pair of Div. III transfers to the Tigers in the class.
Shifting gears to the junior college transfers, Sergio Robles made 14 appearances with Pasadena City College. Robles turned in a huge 5.1 inning performance and his first collegiate start, a win over East Los Angeles in the conference finale that helped propel PCC into earning a postseason seed.
Christian Santiago hit .385 in 42 games with the LA Pierce College Brahmas last season while playing shortstop primarily.
Hank Hansen boasted a .358 clip and 43 RBIs in 42 games last season with Cuesta College.
Luke Haney and Dylan Westbrook played at American River College last season. While Haney earned a .293 batting average and 33 RBIs in 44 games in 2026, Westbrook slashed .359 with 17 RBIs in 28 games.
Talan Zenk comes to Pacific by way of Everett Community College. Zenk hit .306 with a home run and 29 RBIs in 54 games from a year ago.
Tyson Reis represents a newcomer to the Pacific squad from San Joaquin Delta where he posted a .247 clip and eight home runs in 41 games as a catcher.
Kory Chu from Feather River College and Kenny Winters from Sierra College complete the list of new Tigers coming from junior colleges.
The final five newcomers to the Pacific roster hail from high schools last season in Nick Schikore, Jacob Vines, Riley Lim, Dom Caruso, and Zach Tchejeyan. The quartet will look to make their mark on the defensive side of things with the first four serving as a pitchers and Tchejeyan coming in as a catcher.
