Thursday evening, the Pacific Athletic Department was saddened to learn about the passing of Head Baseball Coach,
Reed Peters, following a courageous battle with illness.
"No amount of words could possibly convey the tremendous sadness we all feel at the passing of Coach Peters. Our thoughts and prayers are with Audrey, Cade, Beau, Drew, and the entire Peters family," Athletic Director
Adam Tschuor said.Â
Â
"Reed was with us for only two seasons, but his impact will forever be felt. When we first met, he promised to take the Tigers to new heights, and he did just that with our finest WCC performance to date, our best year this decade, and one of our highest-achieving seasons ever. He will be greatly missed, and we shall all continue to strive to ensure the program lives up to what he built."
Â
Peters' club had just completed a 15-11-1 WCC conference season that led the program to its first ever WCC Tournament appearance where it competed as the number two seed, earning a bye into the double elimination portion of the bracket, and delivered the conference's first tournament victory with a walk-off grand slam over San Francisco.
Â
During his tenure leading the Tigers, Coach Peters produced the first 20-win season of the decade in his first season and followed it up with a 24-win season in 2026 for the most single season wins since 2014 and the first back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2018/19.
Â
Coach Peters was a constant in the Stockton community, leading nearby San Joaquin Delta College for 17 seasons before coming over to Pacific. During his time at Delta, Peters built the baseball program into one of the best Juco programs in the country, sending hundreds of ballplayers to four-year colleges and universities as well as numerous players into the MLB Draft.
Â
Our prayers and condolences go out to the Peters family from not only the Pacific Athletic Department, but also the entirety of the Tigers fandom.
TRBIUTES TO SKIP...
Former Pacific Infielder Brendan O'Sullivan - "Skip was the greatest coach I'll ever play for. One of the most caring and special people around the game of baseball. He always wanted the best for everyone who played for him and cared to make us all better men. Skip gave me my first opportunity to play at the college level five years ago when he called and asked me to go to Delta. He helped me to move on to UNLV, where he had played. Once I graduated UNLV I knew there was only one place I wanted to spend my last year and it was playing for him. I have so much love for Skip and his family, he has made me into the man I am now. I only strive to make an impact of people like he did, he has impacted every person who he has crossed paths in a positive way."
Former Pacific Infielder Jake Tandy - "Skip was a mentor and an advocate, he would go to battle for any person he cared for. He was a person that the team looked up to and a person that we all rallied behind."
Pacific Redshirt Senior Pitcher Zach Todd - "There's no better memory than a Skip laugh or Skip hug. Those don't come often, and when they do, you cherish them. I cherished it that day, and it's heartbreaking that I won't get to experience another one. He was the first call when I entered the transfer portal, and there was no one else I wanted to play for. Not only does that speak to the person he was, but also to the culture he brought and the impact he had on Pacific in such a short time. He put this place on the map."
Pacific Redshirt Senior Pitcher Carson Revay - "He's one of the most consistent dudes I've ever met. I knew him growing up. When I was in the transfer portal after getting cut from Fresno State, he took a chance on me. I really owed him everything. He's a great dude, a great human being and a great coach. No matter what, he rode with his guys He always believed in us. He meant a lot to a lot of people around the city."
Pacific Junior Catcher Diego Davis - "He was a great human being on the field and off the field. He was down to earth. He wanted to see others succeed and wanted to build up a program that had been struggling for the last few years. This hurts me more than anything, and my prayers go out to Audrey, Cade, Beau, Drew and the entire Peters family. He meant a lot to me."Â
