STOCKTON, Calif. - Danny Mayer delivered a two-run single and Cooper Casad, Justin Giovannoni, Vince Arobio held Portland in check for a 3-1 Pacific baseball win on Saturday at Klein Family Field.

Seven different Tigers collected Pacific's seven hits, while Ryan Schalch drove in the third Pacific run.

The Tigers picked up two runs in the first as Jimmy Boras singled and Matt Tarantino walked. The duo advanced a base on a failed pick-off attempt and came in to score as Danny Mayer delivered a two-run single to left for a 2-0 Pacific lead.

Pacific starter Cooper Casad pitched out of a bases loaded, one-out situation in the top of the third inning. In the bottom of the third, Tarantino singled to center and Ryan Schalch followed with a double to the left center field gap for a 3-0 lead.

The Pilots scored an unearned run off Casad in the fifth as Michael Forgione singled and advanced to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Beau Brundage singled him home to cut the Tigers lead to 3-1.

Casad departed after five innings, allowing four hits and the one unearned run. He earned the victory to improve to 2-2 on the year.

Justin Giovannoni took over, tossing a scoreless sixth and seventh, striking out three while surrounding a pair of hits.

Vince Arobio posted two innings of hitless ball, walking one, to earn his fifth save on the year.

Pacific improves to 14-26 on the year, 3-17 in West Coast Conference play. Portland falls to 9-33-1 overall, and 5-15 in the WCC.

Game three of the series is set for noon on Sunday.
