Bats Roar Again, Tigers Take 7-3 Win At Seattle

Box Score

Seattle - Playing in just their third true road game of the season, Pacific picked up a 7-3 win over the host Seattle University Redhawks on Saturday afternoon. Pacific's Kenya Lindstrom (2-2) picked up her second collegiate win while a pair of talented sophomores, Molly Bourne and Cassidy Gustafson, each had three RBI. Pacific improves to 10-8 on the season with the win while Seattle falls to 6-11.

After three up, three down half innings in the first, Pacific struck first in the top of the second against Seattle's Andie Larkins (6-5) as Bourne walked with two outs and scored on Gustafson's RBI triple to right center field.  Seattle tied it in the bottom of the second after Rose Saenz and Molly Campbell tapped back-to-back singles with one out. The next hitter, Kayla Shuster-Gonzales was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Hayley Beckstrom reached on a fielder's choice, plating Saenz to equalize.

The Tigers wasted no time getting the lead back in the top of the third. After two were out, Haylee Moran-Rowen reached on an infield single ahead of a Nicole Zapotoczny double to right center, which gave the Orange and Black a 2-1 advantage. After Lindstrom worked around a one-out double in the third, Pacific gave the freshman hurler a larger cushion in the fourth.

Rachel Sellers opened the inning with a walk and Bourne singled up the middle before Gustafson roped a double into left fielding, plating both base runners for a 4-1 lead to the visiting Tigers while knocking Larkins out of the contest. Alyssa Reuble spelled Larkins in the circle for the remainder of the contest. A double from Campbell shortened the lead to just 4-2 in the bottom of the frame, but Pacific came out roaring again in the top of the fifth. Sydney Lahners walked with one out and Sellers singled. The next hitter, Bourne, homered to left field, a three-run blast that opened up the contest at 7-2.

Seattle started its half of the fifth with a double from Paige Bouska and a single up the middle off the bat of Kaylee Ree, cutting Pacific's lead to 7-3.  The Tigers summoned Megan Walters, fresh off her first career win, to the circle. Walters induced a double play off the bat of Saenz to end the inning.  In the sixth inning, Washington product freshman Caitlin Reynolds pinch hit for Toni Santos and singled to right center for her first career hit, but was stranded at third base as Reuble struck out Moran-Rowen and Zapotoczny to end the inning.

Walters tossed a scoreless bottom of the sixth and worked out of a bases loaded, one-out situation in the seventh, inducing a pair of fielder's choice ground balls to end the contest, picking up her first save of the season in the process.  Lindstrom threw four innings, allowing seven hits and striking out two while walking none in the victory. Walters allowed two hits and two walks in three innings of work for the save.

Lahners, Gustafson and Bourne each had multi-hit performances for Pacific while Bourne and Gustafson had multi-RBI days.

Pacific will return to action for a 6:00 pm scheduled contest against No. 8/7 Washington at 6:00 pm on Saturday night. Live stats are available via PacificTigers.com
