#58 Men's Tennis Splits At Pacific Mountain Invite

Albuquerque, New Mex. - The No. 58 Pacific men's tennis team split in action Friday at the
Pacific Mountain Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Tigers swept 4-0 over Hawai'i, but No. 71 Utah State posted a 4-1 win in the night cap.

The Tigers swept Hawai'i, 4-0 as Miguel Diaz defeated Igor Kolaric in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 at second singles. Jose Chamba was also a straight-set winner, 6-2, 6-3, over Marcel Chan at fourth singles. Alex Giannini posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Nikolai Storch at fifth singles.

Sem Verbeek, Bernardo Oliveira and Kumara Pardha Adavelly had their matches go unfinished.

Pacific won the doubles point as the No. 40 ranked tandem of Verbeek & Chamba prevailed 6-3 over Chan & Albert.

Joakim Pinola & Ruben Blattner topped Giannini & Adavelly, 6-4. But Diaz & Bernardo Oliveira turned in a 6-2 win over Kolaric & Spencer Travalino.

Against Utah State, which also downed Pacific last Sunday at Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center, the Aggies posted a 4-0 victory.

Jonas Maier topped Diaz, 7-6, 6-4, at second singles while Samuel Serrano downed Oliveira 6-3, 6-4, at fifth singles. Adavelly fell to Romai Ugarte at the sixth position, 7-6, 6-1.

Alex Giannini was outlasted in fourth singles by Luis Lopez, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1.

Verbeek and Chamba's singles matches went unfinished and doubles were not played.

Pacific falls to 7-7 on the season. The Tigers will face Grand Canyon Saturday at noon PT.
