#72 Men's Tennis Topped By #53 UC Davis

Davis, Calif. - The No. 72 Pacific men's tennis team fell to No. 53 UC Davis Wednesday, 4-2 at Marya Welch Tennis Center in Davis. Sem Verbeek posted victories in both singles and doubles for the Tigers.

Pacific took the doubles point as Bernardo Oliviera and Lance Ngo rolled over Tommy Lam and James Wade, 6-1.  Verbeek and Miguel Diaz posted a 6-2 win over Adam Levie and Bryce McKelvie to clinch the point. Daniel Alameh and Alex Giannini's match against Brett Bacharach and Eli Whittle went unfinished.

Verbeek defeated No. 38 Alec Adamson, 6-0, 6-4 at the first spot, but Davis reeled off four straight wins as McKelvie topped Giannini, 6-2, 6-3, in the fourth spot. Jesse Ross slipped past Kumara Pardha Adavelly, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in fifth singles. James Wade won the tie-breaker set over Miguel Diaz, 6-3, 7-6 (4) in the second spot and Eli Whittle clinched the match for the Aggies with a win over Bernardo Oliviera, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.  

Bacharach and Alameh went unfinished at third singles.

"Hats off to UC Davis, they were fought than us as a team today," head coach Ryan Redondo said. "We got the doubles point, but from there only the seniors remained committed to maintaining the same level of play into singles. The response from the rest of the team wasn't what I expected and we a lot to prove if we want to reach our full potential."
