"What a day," head coach Ryan Redondo said. "Thirteen hours on court today, going from match to match. There was a lot of great matches we played, especially Sem's match. He came out super slow and sluggish and found a way and was up a break in the third. His opponent fought very well and saved a match point. After a disappointing loss, Sem and Miguel stepped it up and found themselves playing a high level doubles match and a spot in the quarters."

Friday's Recap
The Pacific men's tennis team posted a 3-1 day at the 2015 USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships in Seattle, as Daniel Alameh and Sem Verbeek won in singles with Verbeek and Miguel Diaz winning in doubles.
Verbeek rallied from a first set loss to down Joao Barra of host Washington in three sets, 4-6, 6-2 6-2.
"It was a solid day from the seniors today," head coach Ryan Redondo said. "Sem got through a tough match versus a player on his home court, with his coaches. I chose to go over and coach Alameh and Diaz at the alternate site because I knew Sem would be pushing his standard during that match, which showed in his very mature performance."
Alameh needed a tie-breaker set against Brandon Sutter of Stanford, but prevailed 6-1, 7-6 (4), while Diaz fell to Jordan Smith of Gonzaga, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
In doubles, Diaz and Verbeek downed Billy Griffith and Wyatt Houghton of Cal, 8-6.
"Daniel played another really fun match to watch," Redondo said. "He played aggressive and motivated to get his best out as well. In particular, he is doing the important things well; serving big and returning aggressively. Unfortunately, Miguel came out today and played a very good player from Gonzaga that I think he took lightly. He didn't show up today to play at his standard in singles and lost a great opportunity as he was the fifth seed, however, he and Sem fought through a tricky doubles match and got the W. Tomorrow will be full of more competitive matches and great opportunities."
Action continues Saturday with Diaz and Verbeek meeting Raman and Sommer of Washington in the doubles round of 16. In singles, Alameh meets Mitch Stewart of Washington, while Verbeek squares off with Alex Hunt of Saint Mary's in the round of 32.
