Reno, Nev. - The Pacific women's tennis team fell on the road by the count of 5-2 at Nevada on Sunday, March 23. The Tigers dropped to 6-8 overall, while the Wolf Pack improved to 9-5.
"It was another tough match for us today," said Head Coach Charlotte Scatliffe. "We went out knowing the doubles point would be critical and unfortunately fell short. The coaching staff and players still felt we could go out and win four out of six singles matches, if not all of them. Iveta put up a great fight getting herself up 4-0 in the tiebreaker in the first set but unfortunately lost it 6-8 and went on to lose the second set in a tiebreaker as well. Francis really stepped up today in singles at No. 3 position for the first time and Regina came up big at No. 6. With the season over half way through we will look to stay positive and just keep working as hard as we can in practice and improving for each match."
Iveta Masarova and Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz won at No. 2 doubles, but the Tigers dropped the other two doubles matchups to fall behind 1-0. Francis Dean and Regina Suarez won in singles, but the Tigers dropped the other four. Dean picked up her ninth dual match win of the year, including wins in seven of the last eight.
Pacific is next in action with a home match at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts on Tuesday, March 25, against Eastern Washington at 1:00 p.m.
