Stanford, Calif. - Taking to the road in the penultimate match of their inagural season, the Pacific sand volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss at Stanford on Tuesday, April 16. The loss evened the Tigers' overall record at 4-4 on the year.

Play at the Cardinal's ACSR Sand Volleyball Courts the Tigers suffered a close loss to Stanford on the road as the match came down to the top teams to decide the outcome. Facing off at the No. 1 spot, the Tigers' top team of senior Hannah Clancy and freshman Kat Schulz suffered their first loss as a pair as it took three-sets for the top team to fall to the Cardinal. The loss for Clancy and Schulz snapped a five-match winning streak for the pair as the duo moved to 5-1 on the year playing in the top position.

Despite the overall loss of the match, the Tigers saw their No. 3 team of freshmen Kimmy Whitson and Alicja Wilk stay hot as the duo picked up their fifth-straight win together to move to 6-2 overall while moving up from No. 4. Taking on Madi Bugg and Kyle Gilbert of Stanford, Whitson and Wilk won a three-set marathon as the duo took the first set 21-19 before falling in the second 21-17. In set three, the two teams went back and forth until Pacific pulled away for the 15-12 victory.

In addition to the win at No. 4, Pacific also took home a victory at No. 5 as the team of junior Megan Birch and sophomore Katy Tagart took home the Tigers' only straight set victory as they ran away with a 21-13, 21-10 win.
