STOCKTON, Calif. – First year beach volleyball head coach Jaida Ward notched win number one guiding the Tigers in Pacific's 4-1 home opener win over Delta College on Thursday morning at the Raney Sand Volleyball Courts.
Juniors
Josephine Kinlan and
Kelea Saxton Vaka pulled out win number one of the season on court one in straight sets, downing their opponent 21-14, 21-17. Freshmen
McKenna Brent and
Charlotte Gibson followed suit shortly after with a straight set 21-15, 21-13 win on court three. Sophomore
Makayla Beckett and senior
Ashley Davies clinched the match for Pacific a short time later with a 21-13, 21-17 win on court four.
With the match in hand, freshman
Sydney Priebe and sophomore
Joelyn Abougoush ground out a three-set win on court (13-21, 21-8, 15-11) to bring the match to its final 4-1.
Up next for the Tigers (1-6), the team has a week off before hitting the road again, visiting Saint Mary's on Friday, Mar. 21 and then San Francisco on Saturday, Mar. 22. The match with Saint Mary's is a single contest played at noon and the meeting with USF is a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
