Women's Soccer Hosts Fresno State Thursday Evening

Tigers Also Play at Cal Poly Sunday

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific (5-2-1) returns to Knoles Field to host Fresno State (1-3-3) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 for the final non-conference home match of the season. The Tigers have a 14-match unbeaten streak (9-0-5) in non-conference home games going back to the 2020 season.

Pacific went 2-0 last week, defeating Southern Utah, 3-1, at home and coming from behind to defeat Sacramento State, 3-2.

In the win over the Eagles, Pacific scored three unanswered first-half goals for the 3-0 win. Haley Johnson, Anaya Shelton and Kaya Rosa each scored for the Tigers.

At Sacramento State, Pacific took a 1-0 lead on Alexis Pashales' fourth goal of the season. Graduate student Ryanne Molenaar picked up the assist, her first Pacific point. Sacramento State answered three minutes later and went ahead on a goal in the first minute of the second half. Johnson picked up the assist.

Pacific responded with two goals in the final 10 minutes. Fifth-year senior Jaida Nybe scored in the 82nd minute to tie the game. She now leads the team with seven goals. Sophomore Anaya Shelton scored the game winner with 95 seconds to play off an assist from Johnson.

Pacific has the third most wins this season among the WCC teams, behind nationally ranked Santa Clara and Gonzaga. Six different Tigers have scored this season thus far. Freshman goalkeeper Libby Davy has started all eight matches this season and has a 2.00 goals against average.

Fresno State and Pacific have a 1-1-1 mark against each other since resuming the series in 2019, including a 1-0 win in Stockton as part of the unbeaten streak. The only common opponent so far this season is UC Santa Barbara. The Bulldogs tied the Gauchos, 0-0, while Pacific beat UCSB, 3-1.

Following the Fresno State match, Pacific will play the first of two non-conference road matches to end the non-conference schedule by traveling to Cal Poly (1-3-2) for a noon match on Mustang Memorial Field on Sunday, Sept. 17.

The only Mustang win so far this season came over Loyola Marymount. Cal Poly has a loss to #23 Gonzaga and a tie with Fresno State. Cal Poly tied #8 Santa Clara, 1-1, in its most recent outing and plays at UC Santa Barbara before hosting the Tigers.
