Softball Hosts Saint Mary's in Final Home Series

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team continues its homestand when it hosts Saint Mary's on Saturday, April 29, and Sunday, April 30, in a West Coast Conference series at Bill Simoni Field.

The Tigers (9-25, 0-9) completed the non-conference slate last Thursday, facing off against nationally ranked Oregon at home. The team scored two runs late against the Ducks, with Rory Schuck and Jordan Hayes crossing home plate in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Carly Lucchetti and Delaney Scully continue to lead the team through 34 games, ranking first in nearly all the offensive categories. Scully leads the Tigers with a career-high .294 batting average and is tied with Lucchetti in hits (30) and doubles (six). Lucchetti, hitting .265 on the season, has accumulated a team-best 12 RBI and 14 runs scored.

Saint Mary's enters the weekend on a three-game losing streak and is coming off a narrow 1-0 to California last Wednesday. The Gaels (15-24, 5-4) started conference play with two wins over San Diego and a sweep of Santa Clara but have dropped to fourth place in the standings after suffering a three-game sweep to LMU last weekend.

Multiple players have contributed to the Gaels' offensive success this season, with Taylor Keinath leading the team with a .298 batting average. Hannah Ferguson leads the team in runs (25), stolen bases (14), and triples (three), while Taylor Lane ranks first on the team in hits with 32.

Avery Wolverton has been the ace for the Gaels this season, leading the team and the conference with a 1.95 earned-run average.

Since the 2006 season, the Tiger has totaled 22 wins over the Gaels, including holding an 11-6 record at Bill Simoni Field. Last season, the Gaels took advantage and grabbed two wins over the Tigers to earn the series win.
