Softball Hosts Nationally Ranked Oregon

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team returns home at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, when it takes on #13/14 Oregon in a non-conference contest at Bill Simoni Field.

The Tigers (9-24), coming off a six-game road trip, wrapped up a three-game series at Santa Clara last weekend. Delaney Scully and Allie Capello led the team offensively throughout the series against the Broncos, combing for six hits, including two extra-base hits.

Scully extended her team-leading hitting streak to nine straight games with her three hits during the weekend. During that stretch, Scully led the Tigers with 10 hits and is now tied for the team lead with Carly Lucchetti, recording 30 in 33 games.

Capello notched a hit for the fourth straight game after recording three during the series. She leads all freshmen on the team in hits with 22 and ranks 22nd in the West Coast Conference with a .282 batting average.

Vanessa Strong continues to be the workhorse for the Tigers in the circle, recording a team-low 3.11 earned-run average. In 65.1 innings pitched, Strong has only allowed 29 earned runs and leads the team in wins with four and complete games with three. Her 47 strikeouts this season ranks first on the team and sixth in the conference.

Oregon enters Thursday's contest on a nine-game winning streak and is coming off a three-game sweep of Arizona last weekend. The nationally ranked Ducks (31-11) are currently slotted at #13 in the most recent NFCA Coaches' Poll and #14 in the ESPN/USA Softball Poll, marking the 51st consecutive appearance in the polls, dating back to the 2020 preseason.

Allee Bunker leads the team and ranks seventh in the Pac-12 Conference with a career-high .387 batting average. In 42 games, Bunker has recorded 53 hits and is the lone team member to register double-digit doubles with 11. The fifth-year from Huntington Beach, Calif., has also shown off the power this season, recording eight of the Duck's 49 home runs.

Morgan Scott and Stevie Hansen have accumulated sub-2.50 earned run averages, with Scott leading the Ducks at 2.22 in 24 appearances. Scott has thrown complete games against four different Pac-12 programs this season, including shutting out #3 UCLA on March 24 and Arizona on April 21.

Leading the team with 18 starts, Hansen has tallied a 2.29 earned-run average and a career-high 17 wins. Hansen also ranks first on the team and seventh in the Pac-12 in strikeouts with 103.

The Tigers have earned one win over the Ducks since the 2008 season, earning a 4-2 victory on February 26, 2011.
