STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team continues its six-game homestand when it hosts California in a non-conference contest at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at Bill Simoni Field.
Rian Dirmeyer led the Tigers (9-15) to a doubleheader split of Sacramento State last weekend, leading the team to a 3-0 shutout win in the series' first game. Dirmeyer registered her second multi-hit game of the season, tallying two hits in three at-bats throughout the contest.
Responsible for two of the three runs for the Tigers, the junior from Phoenix, Ariz., recorded her team-leading third home run of the season, a solo shot in the second inning and an RBI triple in the sixth.
Hannah Glad led the Tigers in the circle as she earned her first win of the season. Glad pitched 4.2 innings of relief and only allowed three hits throughout her outing.
California enters the midweek contest after a Pac-12 series win over Arizona State last weekend. The Golden Bears (22-8-1) grabbed the first two games of the three-game conference series before dropping the finale, 4-2, in extra innings.
Makena Smith leads the Golden Bears in multiple offensive categories through 31 games. Smith ranks first on the team in hits (32), RBI (28), home runs (10), and slugging percentage (.713) while recording a .340 batting average.
Haylei Archer leads the team and ranks 105th in the nation in the circle with a 1.83 earned-run average. In 68.2 innings pitched, Archer has allowed only 18 earned runs on 56 hits, keeping opponents to a team-leading .207 batting average.
Wednesday's matchup will be the 14th meeting between the two programs since 2008. The last win for the Tigers over the Golden Bears came on March 30, 2011, in a 13-2, five-inning victory at Bill Simoni Field.
