STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team returns home when it hosts Dartmouth on Thursday, March 16, in non-conference doubleheader at Bill Simoni Field.
The Tigers (6-13), coming off a doubleheader split at CSU Bakersfield on Sunday, have won three of their last four contests. Carly Lucchetti collected two hits and three RBI, leading the team to a 6-1 victory over the Roadrunners in the first game of the doubleheader.
Leading the team in multiple statistical categories through 19 games, Lucchetti has posted a team-leading 19 hits, nine RBI, and has tallied five stolen bases. The graduate student from Linden, Calif., primarily batting in the leadoff position, ranks second on the team in batting average at .279.
Kyla Eck continues to swing the bat, totaling four hits in eight at-bats during the two contests. In the last four games, Eck has recorded three multi-hit games, increasing her team-leading batting average to .372.
Vanessa Strong produced another stellar performance in the circle as she recorded her third win of the season. Getting the nod to start the series against the Roadrunners, Strong posted six solid innings, allowing just three hits. Lowering her earned-run average to 3.28, Strong tied a season-high with five strikeouts.
After winning the season's first three games, Dartmouth enters Thursday's contest on a six-game losing streak. Coming off a 3-2 loss against Abilene Christian at the Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament, the Big Green (3-6) totaled six runs throughout the four-game tournament.
Before Dartmouth travels to Pacific, the Big Green will take on Santa Clara on Wednesday, March 15.
Maddie Katona leads the team with a .333 batting average, while Alaana Panu has recorded eight hits in the first nine games.
The Big Green features two pitchers as Stella Bale leads the staff with a 2.82 earned-run average. In five appearances in the circle, Bale has tallied an 0-2 record, giving up 24 hits and nine earned runs in 22.1 innings pitched. Rachel McCarroll has made eight appearances this season and has recorded a 3-4 record, allowing 34 hits, 17 earned runs, and posting a team-leading 23 strikeouts.
Since 2016, the Tigers have dropped two of the three meetings against the Big Green. In the most recent matchup, the Tigers exploded for 14 runs and 12 hits in a 14-5 five-inning triumph over the Big Green on March 25, 2017, in Riverside, Calif.
